A “The Independent Photographer” Interview

David Cremin - a fellow photographer who I admire - kindly wrote this about me and my craft.

“Eduardo is a Chilean photographer whom I've come to know over the past 3 years, he is an extremely hardworking and dedicated photographer who works expertly in colour in some of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Though he's been away from home for 7 years, to look at his images there is a sense of familiarity in his work. He goes to a place, immerses himself in the culture, and embraces its people. He differs from many other photographers who visit these places as tourists and calls these places “home” while he's there. That's why the work is always authentic and intimate.

Eduardo takes a humanist approach to his craft, his "subjects" are people he has an automatic rapport with and respect for. It comes across in his photos and also is evident in his writings about photography, he treats the people in his photos with dignity and never goes for the low hanging fruit.

He meticulously composes each image, his brain seems to work in overdrive when out on the street as I can't imagine being so switched on to create compelling images that are constantly expertly composed, wasting no corner of the frame and allowing the viewer to let our eyes wander at all the points of interest in the frame.”
